How to Change Your Payment Method

You can pay for your services by card or through PayPal. This article explains how to switch between them, update the card on file, and make sure you aren't charged to your old method after you switch.

Before you Begin

  • Log into the client area.

  • Check Billing > Invoices for unpaid invoices. Open invoices keep the payment method they were created with unless manually changed.

  • Have your new card details or PayPal login ready.

  • If you pay through PayPal subscription, you will also need your PayPal login to cancel it.

IMPORTANT: Changing your payment method in the client area does not cancel an existing PayPal subscription. Cancel it in PayPal as well, or PayPal may keep charging you on renewal.

Pay a Single Invoice with a Different Method

  1. Go to Billing > Invoices and open the unpaid invoice.

  2. Use the Payment Method drop-down on the invoice and choose Credit/Debit Card or PayPal.

  3. Click Pay Now and complete the payment.

NOTE: This changing only that invoice. Future invoices follow the payment method set on your service.

Update or Replace Your Card

  1. Open Billing > Payment Methods

  2. Click Add New Credit Card.

  3. Enter the card details and click Save Changes.

  4. Mark the new card as your default payment method if you have more than one card saved.

Your next renewal will be charged to your default card.

Switch from PayPal to a Card

  1. Add and set your card as default using the steps above.

  2. Log into PayPal and open Settings > Payments > Manage automatic payments.

  3. Find the payment for Zealous Host LLC and click Cancel (or cancel automatic billing).

  4. Open an unpaid invoice, if you have one, and change its payment method to Credit/Debit Card before paying.

Switch from Card to PayPal

  1. Open your next unpaid invoice and choose PayPal as the payment method.

  2. Click Pay Now and complete the payment in PayPal. If PayPal offers to set up automatic payments, accept to have future renewals charged to PayPal.

Troubleshooting

My new card was declined.

Check the card number, expiry date, and billing address. Contact your bank if it still fails.

I was charged twice, once by PayPal and once by card.

You likely paid an invoice by card while a PayPal subscription was still active. Cancel the PayPal subscription and open a refund request through the billing panel.

I can't find the payment method drop-down on my invoice.

It only appears on unpaid invoices. Paid invoices cannot be changed.

My old card is still being charged.

Check that your new card is set as default. If renewals still use the old card, ask us to update the service.
